Morgan Thorson, a dance-maker who has lived in Powderhorn for over 20 years, is hosting a free community gathering, “Public Love for Powderhorn,” at Modus Locus on Sunday, November 18th from 5-8 p.m. Celebrating the residents of Powderhorn, this late fall social event with food, drink, music, a clothing swap, video trailers, local art, conversations and a raffle, is a space for the neighborhood to meet other residents—particularly those who are working or interested in the arts. Part social gathering, and part informational event, this party is an opportunity to mingle and find out what’s going on right next door!
During this informal gathering, there will be time for community announcements. Morgan will take a moment to talk about her new project, Public Love, which will be performed at the Walker December 6-9, 2018, as her intention is to invite the whole neighborhood to this show. As people become acquainted, over snacks and refreshments, she will give away free tickets to the performance, introduce her collaborators, and kick off a community clothing swap.
We hope you will stop by for a drink and a chat. The presence of community members at this event will influence the development of the final performance, as Public Love is an ever-evolving experiment in acts of love as defined as group agency, togetherness and decision-making.
